They left. Here is their story.
From German lessons in Yaoundé to a job in Germany, there is a path — and people who have already walked it before you. Here are their own words, unedited.

Training as a Pflegefachfrau — Lüdenscheid, NRW
I have been living in Germany for almost a year now, in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), in the Lüdenscheid area, where I am training as a Pflegefachfrau. This experience has already changed the way I see life. It all began at ETALL: the German courses, the preparation, then the procedure right through to the visa. I used to be very, very shy, and I have learned to step out of my comfort zone, to stand on my own feet and to believe in what I can do. Today, between the school and the ward, every day teaches me to support, to listen, to reassure, to care. This trade is far more than a training course; it is a life plan.
I am not claiming that everything is easy. The language, the pressure, the responsibilities… but I am still here and I am moving forward. To those still hesitating at ETALL: do not be afraid of starting small, be afraid of giving up on your dreams because the road looks hard. Leaving takes courage. Starting over takes even more. Building the life you dream of takes never giving up.

Hortance Gaelle OWONA MPOUET
Pflegefachkraft — Berlin-Spandau
In Cameroon I was a state-registered nurse. Today I live and work in Berlin — in Spandau, to be precise — as a Pflegefachkraft, a nurse, in the very trade I had been trained for. Since February 2025 I have been making progress every day, and I am finally fulfilling myself in my profession. I am grateful for the chance I was given: ETALL gave me the language and handled my whole procedure through to Germany. To everyone still hesitating: your skills are worth something — give them a chance.

Achil NGUELA SONFACK
Fachlagerist, then lorry driver — Germany
I arrived in Germany on 22 September 2022 — almost four years ago now. My aim: vocational training, with a wage from the very first day. It was ETALL that made it possible: the German, the file, the procedure right through to the visa — everything was properly handled. I did my training as a Fachlagerist (warehouse clerk) from 2022 to 2024, then six months of lorry driver training (LKW-Fahrer). Since July 2025 I have been in full-time work. In four years I went from German lessons at ETALL to the wheel of a lorry in Germany, with two qualifications in hand. If you follow the path seriously, it works.

Metallbauer, construction engineering — Speyer, Rhineland-Palatinate
I arrived in Germany in February 2018 for vocational training in metal construction, specialising in construction engineering (Metallbauer, Fachrichtung Konstruktionstechnik), in Speyer, in Rhineland-Palatinate. Three years between the vocational school and the workshop, learning a real trade, in German, on the job. At the end of the training, the company that had trained me took me on straight away. Today I still live and work in Speyer, where it all began for me. This journey started in a classroom at ETALL in Cameroon, and it goes on.

Training as a cook — Solingen
Barely a few weeks in Germany, in Solingen, and I am already in the kitchen, in training, exactly where I dreamed of being. Everything is new, everything moves fast, and I love it. Between those first German lessons at ETALL and today, I had to hold on. So to those coming after me: believe in your goals and never let your arms drop. It is the work that pays. The one who gives up is the one who loses.

Thiery Vares YEPDJOUO NGONDJOU
Vocational training — plastics and rubber process engineering
I have been in Germany for exactly two years, in paid vocational training in plastics and rubber process engineering. I am starting my third year. Before leaving, a placement in computing had already taught me a great deal: system maintenance, communication. Despite the difficulties along the way, ETALL never gave up until my plan came through, and I thank the founder, Dr Baudouin Tameze, and his whole team, for the chance they give young Cameroonians of a better future.
My advice to the generations coming after: believe in your plans and put everything you have into making them work. And do not learn German only to pass exams — learn it to know the culture and to communicate for real, in writing as well as in speech. Practice makes the master: Übung macht den Meister.
