The women and men of ETALL
Behind every lesson, every exam session and every visa file, there are people. Here are the ones who walk with you, from your first word of German to the day you leave for Germany.
The people who walk with you
A language school, an examination centre and a department that handles departures for Germany: three different trades under one roof. Here is who does what.
-
Dr Baudouin TAMEZE
Founder of the ETALL group
A school does not come into being on its own. Founding a group like ETALL means deciding what the institution is going to promise, and then undertaking to keep that promise: how far to teach German, in which towns to open a centre, and what ties to build with Germany and Europe so that a certificate earned here truly counts over there. The fifteen centres across Cameroon, and the school's standing as an ECL examination centre, all follow from those choices. This is the level at which the course is set, and at which one answers for what the school announces.
-
Dr Alain SONYEM
Head of studies — STUDIENKOLLEG ETALL Cameroon
The head of studies answers for what happens in the classrooms. His task: that the route from A1 to C1 forms a coherent whole, in which each level genuinely prepares for the next. That means choosing and harmonising teaching material, supervising the teachers, defining what an end-of-level assessment must measure, and settling the difficult cases — a student who is not yet ready to move up, a group that has fallen behind. It is also this post that makes sure a B1 class demands the same of its students from one centre to the next.
-
Dr Calvin TEDONGMO
Legal adviser — STUDIENKOLLEG ETALL
Leaving for Germany begins with a file that has to hold up. The legal adviser sees to the soundness of what the school signs and of what it asks others to sign: enrolment conditions, undertakings given to students, documents required first by the German company and then by the consulate at visa stage. When a file turns on a badly worded document, a loose translation or a misunderstood clause, this is the post that catches it — before it is too late. A safeguard for the student as much as for the school.
-
Mrs Josiane DJIMENI SOBZE
Head director, and director of the Mbalngong centre
Two roles, and they answer to each other. As head director, she carries the general running of the school: the decisions that bind every centre, the keeping of the rules announced to students, the quality of what is delivered to them. As director of the Mbalngong centre, she runs an establishment day by day — enrolments, classrooms, teachers, exam sessions, discipline. Leading the whole while still holding one centre in her hands means staying in direct touch with what students actually live through.
-
Mrs Larissa DEMANOU
Head secretary of the Mbalngong centre
The secretary's office is the school's first door: it is where you come to ask your questions, collect your enrolment form and hand in your documents. The head secretary keeps that door. She checks that every file is complete before it goes any further, follows the payments, prepares the candidate lists and is the link between students, teachers and management. It is a post where a missing document is spotted at once — and where it is put right in time.
-
Mrs Estelle KOUOBOU KAMSEU
Assistant to the founder
Assisting the founder means holding the thread of everything on his desk: appointments, correspondence, files awaiting a decision, exchanges with Germany. A post of trust, where one knows at any moment what is under way and what is urgent.
-
Mrs Corine PEGHOKO SANDIO
Executive secretary
She supports the management day by day: preparing documents, keeping the diary, following up what has been decided and checking that it is done. A good part of what goes up to the management, and of what comes back down, passes through her.
-
Mrs Sandra SOBZE KOMEGOU
Finance officer — ETALL Mbalngong and ECL, assistant at the ECL office
She oversees the school's financial operations, in particular enrolment fees, course payments and the fees attached to the ECL examinations. She sees to it that every receipt, every bank payment and every candidate's financial standing — settled or not — is traceable and in order.
She also lends her support to the ECL office.
-
Mrs Dora NGAPGOU KENFACK
Administrative assistant
She keeps the administration turning day by day: filing, registering, preparing documents and keeping the records up to date.
-
Mrs Inès-Diane SIMO MEKAM
Head of the ECL office — Yaoundé
The ECL office is where everything to do with the exam passes through: registrations, application files, the calendar of sessions, the link with ECL headquarters in Europe. She is the one in charge of it.
-
Mr Freddy MEKINDA
IT officer
He looks after everything that keeps the school running on the technical side: the computers, the network, the classroom screens, the online tools. Work that is only noticed on the day it is missing.
Administration
Directors, assistants and secretaries: these are the people who welcome you, keep your file and make each centre run day by day. Scroll across to meet them.
